Цели:

- образовательные изучение новых ЛЕ по теме «Достопримечательности»; повторение ранее изученного материала по теме “What’s the time?”, совершенствование навыка чтения.

- развивающие развитие навыков во всех видах РД; развитие памяти, мышления.

- воспитательные способствовать формированию у обучающихся интереса и уважения к культуре изучаемого языка; поддерживать интерес к учению.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, презентация, учебник.

Форма работы: фронтальная, групповая, в парах.

1. Организационный этап

Good morning, boys and girls! Sit down, please! I’m glad to see you! Today we have got an unusual lesson. Look, there are so many guests at our lesson.

Произносят после учителя слова приветствия, улыбаются друг другу и настраиваются на рабочий лад.

1. Постановка цели и задач урока. Мотивация учебной деятельности обучающихся

Open your books on p.81. Look at the picture. What do you think what we will discuss today at our lesson?

Today we are going to talk about travelling and visiting interesting places. I have a riddle for you: It’s a high tower with clock on it. It’s a face of London. What is it?

It’s Big Ben. That’s right. What a beautiful tower. (слайд 1) Do you know anything about Big Ben? What’s the height of it? Where exactly is it? When was it built? What else do you want to know about it?

How old is it? What is it made of? How many steps has it got?

First of all let’s do phonetically training. I show you the sound and than I say it, and you repeat after me all together. Let’s start the first sound is

   1. 4.1.So, we have got a lot of questions so it’s time to get answer to them. Open your books. Go to page 80. Here we have got a text about Big Ben but before we start reading it, look at the screen. Let’s read and translate some new words. (слайд 3)

Long (minute) hand – длинная (минутная) стрелка

Short (hour) hand – короткая (часовая) стрелка

Huge – огромный

Look at the picture p.81 and listen to the sounds (упр 1 с 81 аудио). Do you know this building? Which city is it in? Read the first paragraph of the text and check.

Listen and read the text and say what exactly Big Ben is (упр 2 с 81 аудио). Big Ben is one of the four huge bells inside the tower.

Make some questions about Big Ben.

Where does the clock tower stand?

How tall is the tower?

How heavy is Big Ben?

How long is the hour/minute hand?

And let’s do the ex 3 p 81 (complete the sentences).

Look at the screen. Here are some questions. Let’s try to answer them. (слайд 11)

Работа в парах. Проверяют друг друга. Составить текст.

1. The clock tower is 318 feet high. People go 374 steps to reach the top. The face of the clock is 23 feet wide. The minute hand is 14 feet long. The hour hand is 9 feet long.
2. They called Big Ben after Sir Benjamin Hall. Sir Benjamin Hall was a big man. First it was a joke. But now we know the clock by that name.
3. In England they call Big Ben the big clock on the tower. It is the biggest clock bell in Britain. It weights 13,5 tons.

As Big Ben is a clock tower we can get the time looking at its clock. So what’s the time? (слайды 12-17)

Now look at the cards on your desks. Here we have some more tasks. Try to do them by yourself and then we will check them. What do these numbers mean? (слайд 18)

And let’s play words. Explore into 2 teams. Words can be selected only from the text (both in Russian and in English). The objective of the other team – to translate the word correctly.

Ex 4 p 80 Imagine that you are a tour guide. Tell a group of tourists about Big Ben. Мы уже выполняли похожее задание, когда говорили о Тадж Махале. В чем отличие простого пересказа текста от рассказа от лица гида? Не забудьте дополнить текст личными ремарками, сделать его живым и интересным и, разумеется, используйте приветственные и прощальные реплики.

1. Рефлексия

Я надеюсь, что вы на сегодняшнем уроке узнали что-то новое о Биг Бене, теперь я бы хотела, чтобы вы продолжили фразу It is interesting to know that… используя приобретенные знания (слайд 19).

It’s interesting to know that Big Ben is not the name of a clock tower but the name of a big bell inside it.

Can you tell and ask questions about tourist attraction? Do you know how to describe a famous landmark?
