Easter is the most ancient and important Christian holiday. In the Old Testament Easter was celebrated in memory of exodus of the Jews or their liberation from slavery. However, in the New Testament It is established in honor of Resurrection of the Jesus Christ. It is also the centre of the Christian doctrine.

At the beginning of the church, Easter was carried next days. And in the second century Easter had already become annual holiday.

Then in 1583 Vicar of Christ Gregory XIII introduced a new calendar of this holiday. Nowadays Easter is celebrated on the first Sunday after the first full moon and the vernal equinox.

One of the ancient traditions of Easter is painting of eggs. According to the legend, Mary Magdalene presented an egg to the emperor Tiberius as a sign of Christ's Resurrection. The Emperor did not believe and saying that as an egg from white could not become red, so the dead did not rise again. At the same time, the egg became red. Eggs are painted in different colors. Painted eggs are usually presented to each other. Eggs are often presented in baskets. In English-speaking countries and Germany there is game. Children should find painted eggs hidden by a Easter rabbit

Easter hat's are part of the the tradition of celebrating Easter. This tradition was first noted by the poet,whose name was Irving Berlin,when he told stories about the Easter parade that held before in New York. Today,the Easter hat is a lady's hat worn by adult women and girl's for the Easter service.
