Цели урока: формирование коммуникативных компетенций.

Задачи урока:

1. формирование лексических навыков чтения и говорения.

2. Ознакомить учащихся с новой лексикой по теме и тренировать до уровня репродукции.

3. практиковать учащихся в аудировании, чтении с разной стратегией.

Речевой материал:

  • Рецептивный: лексический - flood, eruption, prairie, canyon, drought, hemisphere, stream, flow into, valley, volcano, peninsula.
  • Грамматический: артикль географическими названиями;
  • Продуктивный: desert, plain, coast, hill, island, isles, range, landscape, scenery, unique, useless, huge, tiny, vast, typical of; urban, rural.

Оборудование: мультимедиапроектор, ноутбук

Ход урока:

  1. Оргмомент.

Hello everybody. I am pleased to see you. How are you?

Let’s start our lesson.

  1. Установка. Today’s quotation is (презентация слайд №1).

«Different landscapes – different countries»

Do you agree with this statement?

Why do you think so?

You are quite right.

 

I want you to look at the screen and read the words: ocean, sea, river, coast, forest, mountain, hill, island. (ответы учащихся)

What do these words mean? (ответы учащихся)

So look at pictures on pages 3,5. Have you got any ideas about what we’ll talk today? (ответы учащихся)

So the theme of our lesson is “How different the world is! Different landscapes – different countries”. You will read and speak about different landscapes of different countries, you will learn about the use of articles with geographical names

 

Ш. Ознакомление с новой лексикой. You know many words concerning the theme Geography. Now you will learn more.

1. Развитие языковой догадки.

Some of them you can guess: tundra, taiga, prairie, steppes, jungles, subtropical.

2. Работа в парах. Работа со словарём. Упр. 1.1 стр 4 - таблица

But there are quite many words which we should know speaking about geography. Will you open your exercise-books and we'll write them down. Fill in the table please. – слово-транскрипция-перевод

3. Now what verbs can you use describing different landscapes? Прием мозговой атаки. Be situated, consist of, be typical of, cover, be covered with, find, be washed by.

 

IV. Активизация лексики.

    1. Look at the slides and name the objects you see. (a desert, a plain, a wood, a canyon) Repeat these words after me.
    2. Explain the following words in Englash (desert, wood, huge, vast)
  • Desert is a large area of sand with little plant live.
  • Wood is a small forest.
  • Huge means “very large”
  • Vast means “very large and wide”
    1. What countries are these landscapes typical of?

 

V. Аудирование текста с пониманием основной идеи. Listen to the text and guess what country it is about. (уч-ся слушают текст)

Проверка понимания: What country is the text A about? What country is the text B about? What country is the text C about?

 

VI. Чтение с детальным пониманием прочитанного.

  1. Read the text and prove that these texts are about Australia, the USA and Great Britain.
  2. What climates and landscapes are typical of which country? Fill in the suitable words from descriptions on pages 4-5.

Present Simple (review) The verb “to be”

Open the blackets and put the the necessary form of the verb “to be” in Present Simple.

  1. Great deserts (to be) topical of Australia.
  2. A mild climate (to be) typical of Great Britain.
  3. Severe droughts (to be) typical of Australia.
  4. Steady rainfall (to be) typical of Great Britain.

 

 

 

Grammar construction there is / there are

Singular Plural

there is… (there’s)

there is not… (there isn’t or there’s not)

Is there…? there are… (there’re)

there are not… (there aren’t )

Are there…?

Make up your own sentences with this construction.

  • There is a sport centre in VL.
  • There are lots of seaside resorts in great Britain.
  • There isn’t university in this city.
  • There aren’t any big mountains in this country.

Put general question to these sentences.

  • There are lots of seaside resorts in great Britain.
  • There is steady rainfall in great Britain.
      • Are there lots of seaside resorts in great Britain?
      • Is there is steady rainfall in great Britain.

 

VII. Актуализация ЗУН по использованию определённого артикля с географическими названиями.

a) Изучение правила стр. 260.

T: Will you read the rule about the definite article and geographical names.

b) Выполнение упр. 3 стр. 6 в парном режиме.

T: Put the definite article where it is necessary. You can do it in pairs.

c) Контроль проделанной работы.

T: Let’s check it up. Who will begin answering?

 

IV. Подведение итогов. Домашнее задание.

T: You have done a lot today. Your answers were up to the mark (Выставление оценок). It seems that you got interested in geography. That's fine. If so, your homework will be doing exercise on card.
