Практическая задача – развитие речевых умений по теме “British and American Holidays”.
Образовательная задача – способствовать расширению общего кругозора учащихся посредством знакомства с праздниками и традициями англоязычных стран.
Развивающая задача – способствовать развитию воображения, творческих возможностей и коммуникабельности учащихся.
Воспитательные задачи:
- способствовать воспитанию положительного отношения к культуре и традициям стран изучаемого языка.
- способствовать формированию умения работать в группе, уважительного отношения друг к другу, чувства ответственности за совместную работу.
Оснащение: раздаточные материалы, компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, смарт доска.
Ход мероприятия
I. Организационный этап (5 мин)
Т: Good morning, children. Glad to see you today! Sit down, please. How are you today, Rita?
P1: I’m fine, thank you.
T: Nice, and how are you doing, P2?
P2: I’m fine too, thank you.
…
T: That’s great! And, P3, tell me, please, what is your favourite holiday?
P3: My favourite holiday is New Year’s Day.
T: I see. P4, what holiday do you like most?
P4: I like my birthday very much.
T: Nice! So as you have already guessed today we’ll speak about holidays and we’ll learn more about British and American holidays. Are you ready to start?
P: Yes, we are.
T: Excellent! Now divide into two teams, please, and think of a name for your team. … What will be the name of your team?
P: Eagles!
T: Thank you. And the name of the second team is …
P: Tigers!
T: Great! Let’s begin now!
II. Основной этап (35 мин)
Task 1
T: Look at the screen, please. You can see different emblems there. Your task is to say what holidays they are related to. You’ll get 1 point for the right answer.

Task 2
(Учащимся раздаются карточки с вопросами.)
T: Each team has a card with some questions on it. Your task is to ask the other team questions about American and British holidays. You can get 1 point for each answer.

Task 3
T: Look at the cards I gave you. There are two puzzles for you to solve them. You are to find 5 words connected with holidays. You have 3 minutes to do this task. You can get 2 points for this task.

T: Excellent! Now our score is: Eagles – X, Tigers – Y.
Task 4
T: And now I will name a dish and you have to guess the holiday. You will get 1 point for the right answer.
- Irish national dishes

- roast turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie
- roast turkey, ham, potatoes, vegetables, mince pie, fruit cake, gingerbread, nuts
- cupcakes, cookies, candies
- coloured eggs

Task 5
T: Your next task is to solve the crossword. You have 5 minutes to do this. You can get 3 points for this task.

T: I think that now you know American and British holidays much better, that’s why your last task is to prepare a small description of any holiday you want. Here is the plan:

- What do people do during this holiday?
- What do people eat?
- Do we have this holiday in Russia?
You have 5 minutes to get ready. Each member of the team should speak.
