План-конспект воспитательного мероприятия по теме: «British and American Holidays» для 5 класса общеобразовательных школ

Практическая задача – развитие речевых умений по теме “British and American Holidays”.

Образовательная задача – способствовать расширению общего кругозора учащихся посредством знакомства с праздниками и традициями англоязычных стран.

Развивающая задача – способствовать развитию воображения, творческих возможностей и коммуникабельности учащихся.

Воспитательные задачи:

  1. способствовать воспитанию положительного отношения к культуре и традициям стран изучаемого языка.
  2. способствовать формированию умения работать в группе, уважительного отношения друг к другу, чувства ответственности за совместную работу.

Оснащение: раздаточные материалы, компьютер, мультимедийный проектор, смарт доска.

Ход мероприятия

I. Организационный этап (5 мин)

Т: Good morning, children. Glad to see you today! Sit down, please. How are you today, Rita?

P1: I’m fine, thank you.

T: Nice, and how are you doing, P2?

P2: I’m fine too, thank you.

T: That’s great! And, P3, tell me, please, what is your favourite holiday?

P3: My favourite holiday is New Year’s Day.

T: I see. P4, what holiday do you like most?

P4: I like my birthday very much.

T: Nice! So as you have already guessed today we’ll speak about holidays and we’ll learn more about British and American holidays. Are you ready to start?

P: Yes, we are.

T: Excellent! Now divide into two teams, please, and think of a name for your team. … What will be the name of your team?

P: Eagles!

T: Thank you. And the name of the second team is …

P: Tigers!

T: Great! Let’s begin now!

II. Основной этап (35 мин)

Task 1

T: Look at the screen, please. You can see different emblems there. Your task is to say what holidays they are related to. You’ll get 1 point for the right answer.

(Участники команд отвечают по очереди.)

T: Thank you very much! Now the score is the following: Eagles – X; Tigers – Y.

Task 2

(Учащимся раздаются карточки с вопросами.)

T: Each team has a card with some questions on it. Your task is to ask the other team questions about American and British holidays. You can get 1 point for each answer.

(Участники обеих команд по очереди задают друг другу вопросы)

  1. What religious holidays are celebrated in America?
  2. What is the name of “Дед Мороз” in America?
  3. When do people get anonymous cards?
  4. What are traditional colours on Halloween?
  5. When do American children give presents to their mothers?
  1. When can people see ghosts and witches in the streets and why?
  2. When do people wear something green?
  3. When and who brings children colourful eggs?
  4. When are children allowed to stay up until midnight?
  5. When do people play jokes on their friends?

 

T: Well done! The score is: Eagles – X, Tigers – Y.

Task 3

T: Look at the cards I gave you. There are two puzzles for you to solve them. You are to find 5 words connected with holidays. You have 3 minutes to do this task. You can get 2 points for this task.

 

 

T: Excellent! Now our score is: Eagles – X, Tigers – Y.

Task 4

T: And now I will name a dish and you have to guess the holiday. You will get 1 point for the right answer.

  1. Irish national dishes
  2. a birthday cake
  3. roast turkey, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie
  4. roast turkey, ham, potatoes, vegetables, mince pie, fruit cake, gingerbread, nuts
  5. cupcakes, cookies, candies
  6. coloured eggs

P: St. Patrick’s Day, Birthday, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas, Halloween, Easter.

T: Very good, thank you. The score is now the following: Eagles – X, Tigers – Y.

Task 5

T: Your next task is to solve the crossword. You have 5 minutes to do this. You can get 3 points for this task.

Task 6

T: I think that now you know American and British holidays much better, that’s why your last task is to prepare a small description of any holiday you want. Here is the plan:

  1. When do people celebrate it?
  2. What do people do during this holiday?
  3. What do people eat?
  4. Do we have this holiday in Russia?

You have 5 minutes to get ready. Each member of the team should speak.

III. Завершающий этап (5 мин)

1) Подведение итогов + устное оценивание:

T: Thank you very much for your work. It was brilliant! You are now real experts in British and American holidays. Let’s have a look at the score. Our winner today is X. Congratulations! Y, thank you too. I think your team was very active, friendly and creative.

T: Did you enjoy our game?

P: Yes, very much.

T: P1, what task did you like best?

P1: I liked puzzles very much.
