So, I think we are ready to start our lesson.

How are you?

During our lesson we are going to discuss a very important problem. Now watch the film about the most beautiful planet in the Universe and try to guess the topic of our discussion.

Teacher: So today we`re going to speak about ecological problems and the theme of our lesson is “Save the Earth!”(«Спасите Землю!») (Слайд 1)

One of the most important problems in our life is the pollution of the environment. People all over the world are worried about what is happening to the environment. They understand that the Earth is their common home, a big green home. We`ll discuss the problems of the environment today. (Слайд 2).

Today we will learn some new words and do a lot of exercises.

Teacher: I`d like to begin our lesson with the question: What problems are there in the environment today? Think a little.

Use the words and try to name these problems.

Let`s remember some words which will be useful to speak about our theme. I`m sure that some of them are already known to you, some words are new.

Have a look at the presentation and find out the definitions. (Слайд 9-12).

Acid rain - rain mixed with acids formed by gases released into the atmosphere when fossil

fuels are burned.

Air pollution is the introduction of harmful materials into Earth's atmosphere, causing disease,

death to humans, damage to other living organisms such as food crops, or the natural or built

environment.

Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies (e.g. lakes, rivers, oceans and groundwater).

Soil pollution is caused by the presence of human-made chemicals or other alteration in the

natural soil environment. It is typically caused by industrial activity, agricultural chemicals, proper disposal of waste.

Teacher: Now, let’s watch a presentation.
