Занятие поводится в форме развлекательного мероприятия, посвященного празднику Halloween, и включает в себя задания на отработку лексики посвященной тематики мероприятия.

Teacher.

The month is amber,

Gold and brown.

Blue ghosts of smoke

Good afternoon my dear boys and girls. Do you know what date will be soon?

Pupils: the 31^st of October

Teacher: You’re right. It’s the 31^st of October and it’s Halloween. And our lesson today is called “Halloween”. Today we are going to speak about this holiday, to perform a play and to play funny games. You know in the USA this holiday is called “the day of All Hallows”. According to the legend on this day all spirits come to the Earth. People usually tell each other different horror stories, make lanterns and wear mystic costumes of devils, witches and vampires. Nowadays this holiday is celebrated in Russia too.

Our first game today is called “Haunted House”. Do you know what means the phrase “Haunted House”?

Pupils: ученики пробуют объяснить на английском, если не получается, то пробуют перевести эту фразу на русский язык. Если никто не знает, то объясняет учитель.

Teacher: there is a legend about a house where a lot of ghosts and other scary things live. This house is called “Haunted House”. Look at the blackboard, please. Here is the Haunted House. Can you find all the inhabitants of the house? You have five minutes. There are 10 inhabitants here. Try to find them.

Задание:

В форме викторины или необычного кроссворда. На ватмане нарисован дом с приведениями. В разных частях дома, на приведениях и т.д. написаны слова, относящиеся к теме занятия. Учащиеся получают задание найти все слова на ватмане. Пока дети ищут слова, фоном может быть таинственная музыка. Чтобы игра была интереснее, можно разделить учащихся на две команды. Но в этом случае необходимо нарисовать два одинаковых дома.

Слова: ghost, witch, skeleton, vampire, goblin, werewolf, zombie, poltergeist, elf, devil.

Учащиеся вытягивают карточки с описанием и пытаются найти данный персонаж и отметить его на картинке. При этом нарисованные дома крепятся на доску или кладут на первую парту. Кто быстрее разгадает.

 

It’s a small, dwarfish creature specializing in stealing children and substituting fake ones in their place. It’s a very malicious being.	It is disembodied spirit. It is the sole of a dead person and appearing a visible form or otherwise making its presence known to humans.	It’s a mischievous, ugly spirit often conjured up by rogues. It is a spirit who makes its presence by various noises.
It’s a man or a woman who practices magic and has dealing with the devil.	It acts as a slave to the person who reanimated it.	It is a man who can become a wolf at midnight.
It is a creature that feeds on blood.	It is a thief spirit of evil and enemy of God, often represented as the ruler of hell and often depicted as a human figure with horns, cloven hoofs and tail.	It is a creature which reminds a human but doesn’t have skin, only human bones.

 

Чья команда первая находит все слова получают карточки.

 

Teacher: do you believe in these mystic creatures? Which of these creatures can exist? Which are invented by people? (если ученикам трудно, то можно дать зрительную опору).

Teacher: Well, now we know all inhabitants of the Haunted House. Many people believe in ghosts and other scary things. They even make poems about them. And now we have a task. Some of you choose one card with a poem and try to read aloud.

Jack-O-Lanterns Smiling bright Wishing you A haunting night!	Светильники из тыквы Ярко улыбаются, Желая вам Ночи с привидениями!	Sticky fingers, Tired feet; One last house, “Trick or Treat!”	Липкие пальцы, Усталые ноги; Еще один последний дом, “Сладости или гадости!”
The bats come out. The cats come out. The pumpkins come out, too. The treats come out. The ghosts come out. It’s Halloween! Boo!	Летучие мыши появляются. Выходят кошки. Тыквы тоже появляются. Выставляют сладости. Выползают привидения. Это Хэллоуин! Уууу!	Trick or Treat! Trick or Treat! Give me something good to eat. Give me candy. Give me cake. Give me something good to take	Сладости или гадости! Сладости или гадости! Дайте мне что-нибудь вкусненькое съесть. Дайте конфетку. Дайте тортик. Дайте мне что-нибудь вкусненькое взять.
It’s time for Halloween, For black cats and pumpkins, too… It’s time for lots of real-scary fun For someone sweet — like you!	Это время Хэллоуина, Черных кошек и тыкв тоже… Это время для страшного веселья Для кого-то такого милого, как ты!	Grab a sack and Hit the street; One night only: “Trick or Treat!!!”	Хватай мешок И вперед по улице; Только одной ночью: «Угощайте или на себя пеняйте!»
If I could build A time machine; I’d spend each night In Halloween!	Если бы я мог построить Машину времени; Я проводил бы каждую ночь в ночь Хэллоуина!	Walking up the garden path, I spy a yummy sweet, Halloween is here again, Knock, knock – trick or treat?	По садовой тропинки я иду, И вижу сладости, Сегодня снова Хэллоуин, Тук-тук, «Угощайте или на себя пеняйте!»

 

Учащиеся вытягивают карточки в порядке очереди и сразу начинают читать без подготовки. Кто сумел прочитать стихотворение без ошибок, тот получает карточку.

 

Teacher: Very good. Let’s applaud for our reciters. You have just listened to the very interesting poem about Halloween. But do you know what the symbol of Halloween is?

And now the next task. So, let’s make some lanterns. You’ll do the puzzles.
