Тип урока -обобщение и систематизация знаний изученного материала.

Цели:

Образовательная: развитие речевых умений по изучаемой теме; формирование грамматических навыков говорения; совершенствование навыков аудирования и чтения.

Развивающая: развитие коммуникабельности и кругозора учащихся;

Воспитательная: воспитание уважительного отношения к представителям других культур и народов, расширение страноведческих знаний по теме.

ХОД УРОКА

I. Организационный момент. Определение темы урока (1-2 мин).

Teacher: Good morning, boys and girls! Nice to meet you! How are you?

(We are fine. Thank you.)

Children, look at the multimedia board, read the titles and try to guess the theme of our lesson today (На экране появляется презентация, см. Приложение 1).

What countries have you just seen?

Yes, you are right. All these countries are English- speaking

 

Today at the lesson you will work as travel managers. We shall recollect and learn information s about English-speaking countries. I hope it will be very interesting for you.

II. Фонетическая и зарядка(2 мин).

Teacher: First of all, let’s do some exercises for our lips and tongue. (Учитель предлагает ученикам сделать зарядку для губ и языка.)

Tongue twisters

She sells sea-shells

On the sea shore.

The shells that she sells

Are sea-shells.

 

III. Основной этап урока. Развитие навыков устной речи. (10 мин).

  1. Teacher: Now, please, open your books (p.43) and look at the map.

Show the countries where English is one of the official languages and name their capitals. (Вызванный к доске ученик показывает англо-говорящую страну и называет ее столицу.)

Wellington is the capital of New Zealand.

  1. Teacher: Dear friends, I see you worked hard. And as you remember at the moment you are the workers of travel agencies. You should know a lot about the English-speaking countries. Let’s continue to get information.

 

Now work in pairs. Look at the flags and name the country. Do you know the capitals and people who live there? You should say

-full name of the country;

-the short name of the country

- the capital

- the nationalities

- interesting information

 

After each country we will make sentences.

Example:

- The capital of the United States of America (the USA) is Washington D.C. People who live in the USA are called the Americans. It is made up of 50 states, a federal district, and five territories.

- The capital of the United Kingdom (the UK) is London. People who live in the UK are called the British. Great Britain is the largest island in Europe and eighth largest in the world. Great Britain had a population of about 61 million people, making it the world's third-most populous island. The head of State is the Queen.

- The capital of Canada is Ottawa . People who live in Canada are called the Canadian. Canada is a vast country, bigger than the United States, bigger than the continent of Australia. It is in fact one of the world's largest countries. Its area is about 10 mln sq km. The main cities are Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver.

- The capital of Canberra is Australia. People who live in Australia are called the Australian. Australia is isolated from the rest of the world and much of the nature and wildlife found on the continent is unique. A lot of animals native to Australia are found nowhere else, including the kangaroo, koala, dingo and echidna.

The capital of New Zealand is Wellington. People who live in New Zealand are called the New Zealander. New Zealand is an island country in the Southwest Pacific Ocean. It lies about 1600 km southeast of Australia and about 10 500 km southwest of California. New Zealand belongs to a large island group called Polynesia. The country is situated on two main islands — the North Island and the South Island — and several dozen smaller islands.

 

Teacher: I’m sure you know some facts about English-speaking countries. Now try to answer these questions:

What English-speaking countries do you know?

What are their capitals?

What is the official language of Great Britain?

What is the official language of the USA?

What is the second largest country in the world?

What is one of the most powerful countries in the world?

What country consists of two islands?

Which country has the third largest population in the world?

What is the world’s seventh biggest city? (Работа в парах. Дети получают раздаточный материал –карточки с названиями стран и национальностей. Цель работы – найти соответствующие пары. Учитель демонстрирует слайды с флагами страны, названиями столиц и народов).

 

Физкультминутка ( 2 мин.)

Teacher: Do you know how many stars are there on the flag of the USA? 50!

So, let’s jump for 10 stars. (Учащиеся выполняют команды учителя)

 

Turn your head to the left and to the right for 15 stars.

Sit down and stand up for 15 stars.

Turn left and right for 10 stars.

IV. Развитие навыков чтения. Чтение с разными стратегиями. (7 мин.)

 

Teacher: Now I suggest you to open your workbooks, read the text (p. 26) and fill in the table. When you are ready you’ll present your work. (Учащиеся самостоятельно читают текст, вставляют слова и заполняют таблицу)

VI. Закрепление изученной страноведческой информации. (7 мин).

Teacher: It’s time to find out what you know about English-speaking countries.
