Развивающая цель – развивать у учащихся умения выделить главное (составление плана, формулирование выводов и вопросов), формирование умений сравнивать, классифицировать, обобщать факты; закреплять умение планирования и самоконтроля; развивать интерес к предмету; учить анализировать ответы товарищей, понимать свои ошибки;

Flood sufferer
Калькуляторы – statistics and analytics experts
Фотоаппарат – cameraman (reporter)
Штатив - cameraman (reporter)
Boss» - Editor-in-Chief
Editor-in-Chief
Delegate the tasks to your staff (distribute the notes).
You’ve also got plenty of things to do:
- Monitor the work of all your employees
- help them if necessary
- mind the AIR time and the draft of the article deadline
- check the draft and evaluate it (if the work is excellent, good enough, satisfactory or unsatisfactory)
Journalists, DON’T FORGET!
Every article
- must have a TITLE
- has an introduction, the main body and a conclusion
- must have some statistical data
- is full of linking words (moreover, however, in comparison to, afterwards, etc.)
- has to be at least 150 words long
You have to write an article covering the recent events in Italy and present it to the Editor-in-chief before the deadline. You can collaborate with Analytics and Statistics experts.

Flood sufferer
You’ve been living in Italy for all your life but have never faced such a disaster. Your house is ruined because of the water, your belongings are gone. You are to give an interview telling people what happened, how bad it was, where you are staying now and sharing your feelings about the situation. Think of what you are going to say.

Interviewer
You have to conduct an interview with the Italian resident, one of the flood victims, during the AIR time. Think of the questions you will ask him/her. You can take notes and talk to the Italian resident as part of your preparation.
Start with: Hello, … In front of me there is … … a resident of Tuscany who …
Finish with: Thank you, … (the name of the resident). That’s all for now, … (the name of the newscaster)
Analytics and Statistics experts
You’re provided with several bar and pie charts. Find the most relevant information on the topic in these charts and comment on it. Pass your findings on for the journalists to use them in their article.
Useful vocabulary:
The statistics show that … is (x times) less popular … than … .
According to the data in the chart, … appear(s) to be more popular than …, as there are …% of …, which is around (twice/…) as many as the figure for … .
Another important thing to mention is that …
The difference between … and … is …%.
It demonstrates that …
However/Nevertheless/On the contrary/ …. while … /Furthermore, … .
As can be seen, … gets the highest position in the chart (…), while the position of …is the lowest.
Interestingly, …/Surprisingly, …/ As a matter of fact, …
Reporters
All of you (the newscaster, cameramen and the interviewer) are to work on creating a news bulletin covering the recent flood in Italy. The Interviewer is engaged in their part (an interview with the flood sufferer), while the others have to write a script to go with the video for the next air time. The newscaster will have to convey this information during the airtime.
Hint! Start with introducing yourself and the agency you’re working for. Your speech must last for 1 minute 16 seconds (apart from the interview). Make a pause at some point and give a word to your colleague to interview an Italian resident. Then finish the news bulletin.
Suggested script:
