Использование метода интеллект-карт на уроках английского языка (на примере притчи Ш. Сильверстейна «Щедрое дерево»)

Цели: обучение монологическому высказыванию с помощью метода интеллект-карты (на примере притчи Шела Сильверстейна “Щедрое дерево”).

Задачи:

• знакомство с притчей Шела Сильверствейна “Щедрое дерево”;
• активизация лексического материала по теме;
• совершенствование умения поискового чтения;
• формирование умения выделять необходимую информацию из текста и использовать её для составления интеллект-карты;
• развитие умения рассуждать и описывать, строить монологическое высказывание по тексту с использованием интеллект-карты;
• пробуждение чувства доброты, внимания и любви к ближнему.

Средства обучения:

• текст произведения “The Giving Tree” by Shel Silverstein;
• карточки с текстом;
• мультимедийная презентация.

- Today we are going to read the text and transform it into a colorful mind-map.

III. Warming-up

Phonetic drill

At the beginning of the lesson the teacher asks pupils to look at a phonics apple-tree.

- Use a different letter or letter combination on the tree trunk and make words. Then read them aloud (cry, my, sky, why, find, kind, wind, child, wild, climb). Some of these words pupils will find in the text.

II. Vocabulary

- Well done. Look at the apple tree again and name the main parts of it (branches, leaves, trunk, root).

III. Creation a mind map

Pre-reading activity

a) - Now you are going to create your own mind-maps. What will be the central image of your mind-maps? An apple-tree.

- Add branches to label the parts of an apple-tree. You may add colorful pictures or symbols.

• leaves
• roots
• stump

b) What are the benefits of apple-trees?

Pupils match the phrases (1-6) with the pictures (A-F) and give their answers. Then they add branches “benefits” to their mind-maps.

1. to gather its leaves;

2. to climb up the trunk;

3. to eat apples;

4. to play hide-and-go-seek;

5. to swing from branches;

6. to sleep in shade.
