Внеклассное мероприятие по английскому языку по теме: «Достопримечательности Лондона»

Цели:

- расширить знания учащихся о культуре и истории Лондона;

- развивать навыки аудирования, говорения и чтения на английском языке;

- повысить мотивацию к изучению языка через игровые формы работы.

 

Ход мероприятия

 

1. Введение (10 мин)

Приветствие и постановка цели:

Учитель начинает с короткого диалога:

"Hello everyone! Today we’re going on a virtual trip to London. What do you know about this city? What famous landmarks can you name?"

Ученики называют известные места (Big Ben, London Eye и т. д.).

 

Просмотр короткого видео (8 мин)

На экране демонстрируется ролик о главных достопримечательностях Лондона (можно использовать YouTube, например, "London – Видеоэкскурсия для детей").

2. Основная часть (25 мин)

А) Виртуальная экскурсия (10 мин)

Учитель делит класс на 4 группы. Каждая группа получает карточку с описанием одной достопримечательности (на английском):

1. The Tower of London

2. Buckingham Palace

3. The London Eye

4. Trafalgar Square

 

Задание:

- Прочитать текст.

- Выбрать 3 ключевых факта.

- Кратко представить достопримечательность классу (2-3 предложения).

 

Пример текста (для Tower of London):

The Tower of London is a historic castle on the River Thames. It was built in 1078. The Tower was a prison, a palace, and even a zoo! Now it’s a museum where you can see the Crown Jewels.

The Tower of London is steeped in history. Begun by the Normans to control the native population of the City of London, it has served as a royal residence, a military stronghold, a royal mint, and a prison. It houses the Crown Jewels and is at the heart of the oldest military ceremony in the world. With over 150 permanent residents, it is like a small community within greater London.

Buckingham Palace is the official London residence of the British monarch. The Palace is a setting for state occasions, royal entertaining, and is a major tourist attraction. It has been a rallying point for the British people at times of national rejoicing and crisis. The State Rooms form the nucleus of the working Palace and are currently used regularly by King Charles III and members of the royal family for official and state entertaining. The Buckingham Palace Gardens 8are the largest private gardens in London.

The London Eye, originally the Millennium Wheel, is a observation wheel on the South Bank of the River Thames in London. It is the world's tallest observation wheel, and the most popular paid tourist attraction in the United Kingdom .The structure is 135 metres tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres. When it opened to the public in 2000 it was the world's tallest Ferris wheel, until the 160-metre Star of Nanchang in China surpassed it in 2006. The Eye was the highest public viewing point in London until 2013.

Trafalgar Square was designed by architect Sir Charles Barry in the 1840s as part of an initiative to redevelop the area around Whitehall and Charing Cross. The square gets its name from the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), where Admiral Horatio Nelson led Britain to victory over French and Spanish fleets during the Napoleonic Wars. The square’s most prominent feature is Nelson’s Column, a monument built in honour of Admiral Lord Nelson. Standing at (51 meters) tall with Nelson himself gazing down on London from atop his column — this grand structure serves as an enduring symbol of British naval power.

Квест "Find the Landmark" (15 мин)

На доске/экране — карта Лондона с цифрами вместо названий. Ученики получают подсказки (загадки на английском) и угадывают, какая достопримечательность скрыта.

 

Примеры загадок:

4.It is one of the centers of political life in the United Kingdom. (The Houses of Parliament or Westminster Palace)

5.It is an art museum in Trafalgar Square in the City of Westminster, in Central London. Founded in 1824, it houses a collection of over 2,300 paintings dating from the mid-13th century to 1900.(the National Gallery)

6.It is where many locals and tourists choose to meet because of its privileged location in the heart of London, and as it is close to important leisure and shopping areas. It was founded in 1819 and became an extremely important junction since its construction. (Piccadilly Circus)
